Devajit Saikia: BCCI to review Team India after England tour. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has confirmed that Team India’s performances will undergo a full review immediately after the ongoing England tour concludes. The announcement follows India’s crushing nine-wicket defeat in Bristol, which gave England an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match T20I series.
Speaking to IANS from Edinburgh during the ICC Annual Conference, Devajit Saikia acknowledged India’s difficult phase and expressed confidence in finding solutions. The thing is very simple. The Indian T20I team is going through a bad phase in their games against England and Ireland before. So, we have to do a review once this series is over, Saikia said. The review will happen after the ODI series ends on July 19.
India’s white-ball campaign has been disastrous. The visitors lost 0-2 to Ireland in T20Is and then fell 3-0 behind against England in the current series. In the fourth T20I, captain Shreyas Iyer scored an unbeaten 80, but England chased down 159 with ease, led by Harry Brook’s 79 not out. The team has struggled with batting against seam-friendly conditions, missing key players like Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah.
The review will focus on identifying specific problems within the squad and working towards fixing them. With only the fifth T20I remaining before the ODI series, India will look to end the losing streak on a positive note and regain confidence ahead of the evaluation process.
