Nara Lokesh: TPREL’s ₹5,350 Cr Green Push. Andhra Pradesh is advancing its renewable energy sector as Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) launches two major clean energy projects with a combined investment of ₹5,350 crore. Minister Nara Lokesh will lay the foundation stone at Pattikonda on Wednesday, focused on transforming the Rayalaseema region into a renewable energy hub.
The projects are part of the state’s Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. TPREL will develop 800 MW capacity across two districts. A 400 MW solar project at Pattikonda in Kurnool district requires ₹2,250 crore over 2,700 acres. A 400 MW wind project at Kanekal in Anantapur district involves ₹3,500 crore over 760 acres.
Nara Lokesh: TPREL’s ₹5,350 Cr Green Push includes an 800 MW Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) connectivity via key substations, enabling efficient power evacuation. The projects will meet the energy needs of utilities, DISCOMs, and commercial consumers. During construction, nearly 4,000 jobs will be created, and over 1,100 farming families will gain long-term income opportunities.
The Kanekal wind project will use technical support from Suzlon, a leading wind energy company. The state aims for 160 GW of clean energy capacity. With these new investments, Rayalaseema strengthens its position as a top renewable energy destination in India. This initiative supports Andhra Pradesh’s sustainable growth and energy goals.
