Delimitation Bill: DMK Defies Center in Shocking Move

Delimitation Bill: DMK has taken a sensational decision regarding the delimitation bill. While the Center prepares to introduce this bill in Parliament again, the party has decided to go its own way, creating a major political stir. Monsoon sessions begin on July 20, and new strategies are being prepared to achieve full majority for this bill. Despite being part of the India Alliance, the DMK is now trying to make independent decisions without consulting Congress.

London-based party chief MK Stalin held an emergency video conference with party MPs to discuss the delimitation bill extensively. The DMK focused on the damage to Tamil Nadu and southern states due to this legislation. Stalin clarified that the main objective for MPs is to act as the voice of Tamil Nadu’s people, protecting state rights and public interests. The party will take a final decision after examining the bill’s shortcomings and provisions once it is introduced.

During discussions, MPs analyzed predictions that Lok Sabha seats could increase by around 50 percent in the future. Southern states risk losing representation due to population-based calculations. Therefore, the DMK has decided to demand maintaining the old seat ratio and pressure the Center on this matter. By breaking away from the joint strategy with Congress and taking its own decisions, the DMK has caused a sensation during the upcoming Parliament sessions.

This shocking move regarding the delimitation bill has come as a major blow to the All India Alliance. The DMK’s independent stance on the delimitation bill threatens the unity of the opposition bloc. As parliamentary proceedings begin, this decision by the DMK to defy the Center is likely to spark intense political debate in the coming days, altering the dynamics of coalition politics.
