The news of big investment is again heard in Rayalaseema. Dalmia Cement Company is starting a new project with Rs.3,100 crores. This will create direct jobs for more than 700 people per year. This project will be set in Jammalamadugu area of Kadapa district.

Currently 950 people are working in the plant there. Once the new expansion is completed, a total of 1,650 people will be employed. With this, more opportunities will arise in allied industries as well. The plant produces 2.5 million tonnes of clinker and 3.6 million tonnes of cement per year.
The company plans to source 80% of its electricity from renewable sources. That means it is likely to become a green industry. Currently, the company is paying Rs.102 crores per year in taxes and mining royalties to the state government.
In case of new expansion, this amount will increase to Rs.325 crores. All this will be a boost to the regional economy. This is a good sign for investment trend in Rayalaseema.
