VinFast: Driving Sustainability with EVs and Battery Recycling. The Vietnamese automaker has made sustainability a cornerstone of its long-term business strategy, focusing on electric mobility, manufacturing improvements, and battery lifecycle management. As the global automotive industry shifts toward lower-emission transportation, VinFast says it is committed to reducing the environmental impact of both its products and operations.
A major part of VinFast’s plan is its dedicated move to an all-electric vehicle portfolio, supporting the transition away from fossil fuel-powered cars. VinFast has also joined The Climate Pledge, committing to net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. Within its manufacturing facilities, the company prioritizes electrification, improved energy efficiency, and cleaner energy sources to optimize energy use without sacrificing quality.
Battery lifecycle management is another key area. VinFast has partnered with organizations involved in battery recycling to recover critical materials like lithium and cobalt from end-of-life EV batteries. This approach aims to build a more circular supply chain by reducing waste and enabling resource reuse. In India, VinFast announced a collaboration with BatX Energies to enhance responsible battery disposal and material recovery as EV adoption grows in the country.
Looking ahead, VinFast plans to develop a wider electric mobility ecosystem, including charging infrastructure, connected digital services, and supply chain initiatives. While these steps reflect a strong sustainability roadmap, their long-term success will depend on continued investment and the pace of electric vehicle adoption in key markets. VinFast is driving change by integrating sustainability into every stage of its business.
