Thaliki Vandanam: Lokesh releases funds, shares emotional message as the Andhra Pradesh government begins disbursing financial aid under this flagship scheme aimed at supporting students from Class 1 to Intermediate Second Year. Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh announced the release of funds, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring no child misses education due to financial hardship.
“Children are our greatest wealth. Their education is our most valuable investment. No child should be deprived of education due to financial hardship,” Lokesh said in an emotional social media post. He expressed gratitude to mothers striving to educate their children, noting that the Thaliki Vandanam scheme extends benefits to every eligible student in a household, unlike previous programs with family restrictions.
Under the scheme, Rs. 13,000 per student is credited directly to mothers’ bank accounts after institutional deductions. The government has released the assistance at the beginning of the academic year for the second consecutive time, ensuring timely support. Around 67.47 lakh students will benefit, with a total of Rs. 10,120.78 crore transferred to 42.70 lakh mothers. The process continues until July 24 with transparent payments.
By directly supporting mothers through Thaliki Vandanam, the government aims to ease financial burdens on low-income and middle-class families, improve school retention, and help students pursue education confidently. This initiative strengthens access to education and provides crucial relief at the start of the academic year.
