India vs Sri Lanka: Warm-up Reduced to 3 Days for Tests

India vs Sri Lanka: Warm-up Reduced to 3 Days for Tests, as confirmed by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Tuesday. The practice match, originally scheduled as a four-day affair, will now be a three-day fixture from August 7 to 9 at the Nondescripts Cricket Club (NCC) Ground in Colombo. This change comes just ahead of India’s arrival in Sri Lanka on August 4 for the upcoming two-match Test series.

The India vs Sri Lanka: Warm-up Reduced to 3 Days for Tests announcement was made via an official SLC statement. “Team India will play a 3-day warm-up game instead of the originally scheduled four-day fixture. The warm-up fixture will commence on 7 August at the NCC Grounds, Colombo,” the statement read. While the board did not specify a reason for the alteration, the revised schedule still gives the visiting side ample time to prepare for the series opener.

Following the shorter warm-up, India will face Sri Lanka in the first Test at the Galle International Cricket Stadium from August 15 to 19. The second Test will be held at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) in Colombo from August 23 to 27. Both matches are part of the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, adding significant context to the series. The BCCI had earlier announced a four-day practice match in its initial squad release, making this latest adjustment notable.

With the India vs Lanka: Warm-up Reduced to 3 Days for Tests now confirmed, the Indian team will have just two days of match practice before the Test series begins. The reduced preparation time places a premium on the players’ adaptability to local conditions. Overall, the focus shifts quickly to the competitive Test action, with both teams eager to earn crucial WTC points starting in Galle next week.
