Justice Sandeep Mehta Asks CJI To Replace Rajasthan HC Acting CJ

Supreme Court judge Sandeep Mehta has formally urged Chief Justice Surya Kant to remove Rajasthan High Court Acting Chief Justice SP Sharma immediately. The intervention follows serious internal concerns raised regarding the administrative decisions and case management overseen by Justice Sharma at the Rajasthan High Court.

Sandeep Mehta Demands Judicial Overhaul

The confidential communication highlights allegations of administrative misconduct and questionable listing practices within the state judiciary. Justice Mehta pointed out that certain matters managed under the current Acting Chief Justice lacked transparency, prompting the urgent plea for leadership restructuring at the high court level in Jaipur.

Legal observers note that such direct interventions by sitting Supreme Court judges into high court administration are exceptionally rare. The appeal places intense scrutiny on the internal operations of the Rajasthan High Court, particularly concerning how urgent matters and bench assignments are handled prior to judicial retirements.

Chief Justice Surya Kant is now expected to review the representation submitted by Justice Mehta regarding Acting Chief Justice SP Sharma. No official notification regarding a replacement has been formally released by the Supreme Court collegium as administrative consultations continue behind closed doors.
