Pawan Kalyan flags off kumki elephants for mission to reduce human-elephant conflict in Andhra Pradesh. In a significant step, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan welcomed two trained kumki elephants, Jayanth and Abhimanyu, at his Mangalagiri camp office. The elephants began their journey from the Musalamadugu Elephant Camp in Palamaner to the Guchchimi Elephant Camp in Parvathipuram Manyam district. Pawan Kalyan flagged off the second phase of their journey after showering flowers and personally feeding them.
The Deputy Chief Minister also reviewed safety arrangements with Forest Department officials. He instructed them to ensure the highest standards of care during the transportation of these kumki elephants. He directed officials to allow the elephants adequate time to adapt to the new environment under expert supervision after reaching the Guchchimi camp. This deployment is part of a scientific and humane approach to manage wildlife.
Parvathipuram Manyam has seen frequent wild elephant herds entering from the Odisha border, causing damage to crops and property. The two kumki elephants, Jayanth and Abhimanyu, have successfully handled similar operations in Palamaner and Chittoor regions. Their experience is expected to strengthen wildlife management and safely guide wild elephants back into forest areas.
The deployment of kumki elephants marks a long-term strategy to reduce human-elephant conflict. Pawan Kalyan emphasized that this initiative will protect people, safeguard farmers’ crops, and conserve wildlife. With trained elephants like Jayanth and Abhimanyu, the government aims to bring lasting peace to affected regions.
