Pawan Kalyan: Tough action against red sanders smugglers will continue without exceptions, as the Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Forest Minister issued a strong warning to those involved in the illegal trade. He stated that anyone found supporting interstate smuggling networks, including forest officials, will face strict consequences. Pawan Kalyan emphasized that the government is preparing tougher measures to curb red sanders smuggling and assured regular reviews of Operation Aranya’s progress.
His remarks followed a major seizure near Jyothi Gudi in Varikuntla village under Avadhuta Kasinayana Mandal, Kadapa district. Acting on intelligence, the Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force and State Intelligence team intercepted a Bolero Max truck carrying red sanders logs hidden under household goods. Officials seized 78 logs worth approximately ₹1.5 crore and arrested two alleged interstate smugglers, Sunny and Ramesh, both from Haryana. The vehicle was also taken into custody.
Investigations revealed that a Forest Beat Officer named Mallikarjuna, posted in the Jyothi Forest Beat, allegedly assisted the network. He was arrested and is under investigation. Officials informed the Deputy Chief Minister that key individuals linked to the smuggling operation from Bengaluru, Haryana, and Kolkata have been identified. Pawan Kalyan directed special teams to trace and arrest the masterminds behind this red sanders smuggling racket. He also ordered a detailed inquiry into the officer’s role and requested a comprehensive report.
