Nageshwar Rao Becomes Sarvajana Sanatan
M. Nageshwar Rao, a former CBI director, has entered active politics after being elected national president of the Sarvajana Sanatan Party on October 3, 2026. The announcement was made in Varanasi, which he described as the starting point of a new political chapter in his public life.
Rao brings nearly four decades of experience in security, law and order and administration. He belongs to the Odisha cadre of the Indian Police Service and earlier served as interim head of the CBI, a role that brought him wide public attention across the country.
According to the announcement, the party rests on four pillars: education connected to Indian civilisation, accessible quality healthcare that blends modern and traditional medicine, respectable livelihoods for different professions, and reconnection with civilisation through cultural institutions.
Rao said that the reconstruction of India cannot be limited to administrative reforms alone. He described Sanatan as a view of life rooted in truth, duty, compassion and justice rather than merely a method of worship, and said the party aims to build a modern India standing on its civilisational roots without social divisions.
The announcement was attended by party vice presidents Mahant Tirthanand and Ritu Rathod along with other senior officials. Political observers will now watch how the party builds its organisation, which issues it takes up first and whether it fields candidates in coming elections.
