In boxing, India continued its strong campaign. Jadumani Singh defeated Pakistan’s Sumama Rehman by a unanimous 5-0 decision in the men’s 55kg Round of 16, booking his place in the quarter-finals. Preeti Pawar produced a dominant display to defeat Malawi’s Deborah Mtenje by referee stops contest, advancing comfortably. However, Aditya Pratap Yadav narrowly lost to Uganda’s Nuhu Batte in the men’s 65kg Round of 16 by a 3-2 split decision.
India’s men’s 4x200m freestyle relay quartet of Srihari Nataraj, Aryan Nehra, Aneesh Gowda and Dhakshan Shashikumar successfully qualified for the final after finishing third in their heat, later finishing sixth in the medal race. In other events, India endured a difficult day in lawn bowls, with Rupa Rani Tirkey and Pinki Singh losing twice in the women’s pairs, and Putul Sonowal losing in the men’s singles. Artistic gymnast Tapan Mohanty finished 15th in the men’s all-around final, and the women’s 3×3 wheelchair basketball team lost 21-4 to Scotland.
