Kia Syros EV is all set to become the carmaker’s most affordable electric SUV in India, with its official debut expected in the final week of July. Kia India has sent out “Block Your Date” invitations for an event scheduled between July 23 and 28, 2026, though specific details remain under wraps. The market launch of the Kia Syros EV is anticipated in August. This upcoming electric SUV will directly challenge the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, aiming to capture the affordable EV segment.
Design-wise, the Kia Syros EV retains the upright, boxy stance of its petrol version. Spy shots reveal a new charging flap on the passenger-side front fender, revised front and rear bumpers, and aero-optimized alloy wheels. One test mule also featured lime green brake calipers, adding a sporty touch. The interior is expected to remain largely unchanged, but the Kia Syros EV could introduce vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) functionality, along with an ADAS suite, which was discontinued on the ICE model in 2026.
Powering the Kia Syros EV will be the K1 platform, with battery options likely borrowed from the Hyundai Inster EV. Two pack sizes are expected: a 42kWh and a 49kWh unit, though official powertrain details have not been confirmed by Kia. The exact range figures are yet to be announced, but these batteries should provide competitive driving range for city and highway use.
Pricing for the Kia Syros EV is expected to start around Rs 15 lakh for the base variant and go up to Rs 20 lakh for the top-end trim. This positions it slightly above its key rivals, the Tata Nexon EV, available from Rs 12.49 lakh to Rs 17.49 lakh, and the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, priced between Rs 13.89 lakh and Rs 14.96 lakh (ex-showroom). The Kia Syros EV aims to offer a compelling mix of design, features, and practicality in the affordable electric SUV segment. With its launch just weeks away, it will be interesting to see how it performs against established competitors.
