Peacko: Mascot Unveiled for BWF Worlds 2026

Peacko: Mascot Unveiled for BWF Worlds 2026 has been introduced in New Delhi as the official symbol for the upcoming BWF World Championships. With just 30 days left for the tournament, organizers have assured a smooth event following last year’s India Open, which faced issues like pigeon droppings, a monkey intrusion, dust, and facility concerns. The Badminton Association of India (BAI) also plans to use cost-effective hybrid shuttlecocks due to rising feather shuttle prices.

The Peacko: Mascot Unveiled for BWF Worlds 2026 ceremony featured key figures including Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, BAI President Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Chief National Coach Pullela Gopichand. BAI general secretary Sanjay Mishra confirmed that all shortcomings from the India Open have been fixed. “The issues that came up during the India Open have been rectified, and I am confident this will be one of the best World Championships,” Mishra said, calling the earlier event a test.

To eliminate the pigeon menace, heavy-duty overhead bird netting has been installed beneath the roof, and nests have been removed. The monkey intrusion has been addressed by sealing open gates, adding a triple-door entry, and deploying 24/7 security. Stray dogs are being relocated with help from Delhi authorities. The stadium also features a new false ceiling, upgraded toilets, improved drainage, and glare-free LED lighting.

Unveiling the Peacko: Mascot Unveiled for BWF Worlds 2026, Mandaviya said India is moving towards becoming a sporting nation. Sarma called the event’s return after 17 years a landmark moment. The tournament, from August 17-23, is expected to cost Rs 15-20 crore and promises to leave a lasting legacy for Indian badminton.
