IND vs ENG: Preps begin for ODI series in Birmingham

IND vs ENG: Preps begin for ODI series in Birmingham as the Indian cricket team shifts focus from T20Is to the 50-over format. With the T20I series finale taking place far away in Southampton, the ODI squad is already setting up camp in Birmingham for the first match on July 14. This series is crucial for veterans like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who are returning from recent injuries.

IND vs ENG preparations are in full swing at Edgbaston, where seven ODI squad members are likely to practice. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and captain Shubman Gill have been in London honing their skills. Rohit trained at local clubs with young bowlers, while Kohli, fit again after a hamstring issue, has been practicing at Lord’s, the venue for the third ODI. Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Gurnoor Brar, and KL Rahul arrived in Birmingham on Friday and will join the team sessions.

The spotlight is on Kohli, who will play his first match since the IPL 2026 final. His return means Yashasvi Jaiswal, despite a century against Afghanistan, is out of the squad. For IND vs ENG, both Rohit and Kohli aim to prove their fitness and form, especially after injury setbacks. Gill, the skipper, has also been training locally and enjoying events like Wimbledon and the Silverstone Grand Prix.

The three-match ODI series starts in Birmingham, moves to Cardiff on July 16, and ends in London on July 19. With key players back and a focused camp, India looks to build momentum in this IND vs ENG contest. It promises to be a tightly fought series, offering a fresh start for the team after the T20I challenges.
