Skoda Kodiaq RS: India Launch at Rs 66.99 Lakh. Skoda Auto India has priced the performance-focused Kodiaq RS at Rs 66.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Imported as a completely built unit (CBU), it becomes the most expensive Kodiaq variant, commanding a Rs 20 lakh premium over the locally assembled Selection L&K trim. The initial allocation of 50 units sold out in just six minutes when bookings opened on June 22, though Skoda has yet to confirm additional stock.
The Skoda Kodiaq RS is powered by Volkswagen Group’s EA888 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, delivering 265 HP and 400 Nm of torque—an increase of 61 HP and 80 Nm over the standard Kodiaq. All-wheel drive and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission enable a 0-100 km/h sprint in 6.3 seconds, making it the fastest Skoda model launched in India. Chassis upgrades include Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC Plus) adaptive suspension with 15 damping settings and progressive steering.
Visually, the Skoda Kodiaq RS features a more aggressive design with redesigned bumpers, RS badges, 20-inch alloy wheels, a larger roof spoiler, and dual exhaust outlets. Gloss black elements include the front grille, roof rails, and window surrounds. Inside, red contrast stitching appears on seats, dashboard, and steering wheel, along with RS embossing and metallic dashboard inserts. Equipment includes a 12.9-inch touchscreen, 10.25-inch digital cluster, panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control, ventilated and massaging front seats, and a 13-speaker Canton audio system. Safety features nine airbags, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS.
The Skoda Kodiaq RS competes with the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line, which is locally assembled and priced lower. However, the Kodiaq RS differentiates itself through higher engine output and performance hardware like adaptive suspension. For enthusiasts seeking a rapid and well-equipped SUV, the Kodiaq RS delivers a compelling package, though its limited availability may test patience.
