According to sources, Tulika Maan accumulated three whereabouts failures within a rolling year, which includes filing failures and missed tests. Filing failures occur when athletes fail to update mandatory location details for out-of-competition testing. A missed test happens if a doping control officer cannot find the athlete during the 60-minute testing window. Three such failures constitute an anti-doping rule violation under the WADA Code, carrying a two-year sanction unless successfully contested. NADA has summoned Tulika, and she is scheduled to appear on Thursday.
Tulika Maan, raised by her mother Delhi Police sub-inspector Amrita after losing her father, switched from football to judo at age eight. Trained by coach Yashpal Solanki, she became only the second Indian judoka to win a CWG medal. Despite a serious knee injury, she qualified for the Paris Olympics as India’s sole judo representative.
