The Indian automobile industry experienced a profitable June, with total passenger vehicle sales reaching 1,56,014 units, a significant 34.19% year-on-year growth from 1,16,267 units in June 2025. The Tata Punch recorded a massive 101.09% YoY growth, while the Tata Nexon, including ICE and EV versions, secured second place with 18,335 units, showing a 58.03% increase.
The Mahindra Scorpio emerged as the third best-selling SUV with 14,097 units, and upcoming midlife updates are expected for the Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic. Maruti Suzuki’s Fronx took the fourth spot with 13,135 units, and its facelift, featuring ADAS and a strong hybrid powertrain, is under testing. This model could become India’s most affordable hybrid offering, using Maruti’s in-house series hybrid technology.
The Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV 3XO claimed fifth and sixth positions, selling 10,776 and 10,063 units respectively. Maruti Suzuki’s Victoris midsize SUV sold 10,035 units, while the Brezza achieved 9,939 units. The 2026 Maruti Brezza facelift, equipped with a 1.0L turbocharged Boosterjet petrol engine, is set to debut on July 23. Kia India sold 9,654 units of the Seltos, and the Mahindra XUV 7XO recorded 9,244 units, with both expected to receive hybrid powertrains in 2027.
