India Slams US Body Over Call For RSS Sanctions

New Delhi has forcefully rejected a recommendation for RSS sanctions issued by the United States Commission on International Freedom (USCIRF), dismissing the American watchdog as a biased entity pushing a hidden political agenda.

Washington Proposes Harsh RSS Sanctions

The controversial call from the US federal agency urges the Biden administration to penalize members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and avoid holding high-level diplomatic meetings with its leadership.

This provocative move by the USCIRF conveniently coincides with preparations for RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat to embark on an extensive international outreach tour covering the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom for the organization’s centenary celebrations.

Indian government officials have categorically condemned the report, maintaining that the American commission lacks any institutional credibility and routinely misrepresents ground realities concerning religious freedom and social organizations in India.
