Police scam: 12 arrested in fake uniform extortion with Rs 17.60 lakh. The Satthupalli police have arrested 12 individuals who were posing as police officers to extort money from victims by promising to convert black money into white money. The arrests were made in the suburbs of Gangaram after a complaint was filed by Kurra Gangadhar Reddy from Proddutur in Kadapa district. The police scam involved a gang that would lure victims by claiming to be real estate traders, promising them a profit of Rs 40 lakh if they invested Rs 10 lakh. Once the victims handed over the money, they were given a bag of dummy currency and immediately confronted by individuals in police uniforms who threatened them with arrest for dealing in fake currency.

The mastermind of this police scam was identified as Eda Chantibabu from Venkatapuram in Eluru district. Notably, the gang included a TGSP 15th Battalion constable, Mullagiri Vardhan, and RSCI Baira Keshav Rao. The police seized Rs 17.60 lakh in cash, police uniforms, handcuffs, dummy currency notes, three cars, and a scooter from the accused. ACP Vasundhara Yadav of Kallur stated that 12 of the 14 accused have been detained and sent to judicial remand.

Authorities continue to search for two absconding suspects involved in this police scam. ACP Yadav urged the public not to fall prey to schemes promising huge profits, as such tactics are common in these fraudulent operations. The police played a vital role in dismantling the gang, with special teams monitoring their movements before the arrests.

In conclusion, the Satthupalli police have successfully cracked down on a sophisticated police scam where criminals used fake uniforms to extort large sums of money. The investigation remains ongoing, and the public is advised to report any suspicious offers to the authorities.
