Peddi: Ram Charan’s Rs.400 Cr Film Gets 1.9M Views on Netflix. The mega-budget Telugu film, which earned over Rs. 400 crore globally in theaters, had a surprisingly weak OTT debut. Released on Netflix on July 9, 2026, it only attracted 1.9 million views in its first four days. Despite high expectations, Peddi now sits at the fifth spot on Netflix’s Global Top 10 Films chart for non-English content, far below the usual performance for a film of this scale.
One major reason for the slow start is the absence of the Hindi version, which has a full theatrical window of eight weeks. With no Hindi audio option available yet, Peddi struggled to attract non-Telugu viewers. Criticism of the cricket scenes in the first half of the film also hurt its appeal. Social media backlash has further dampened the film’s reception, limiting its reach among wider audiences.
Adding to the challenge, Peddi was outperformed by smaller films. The courtroom drama Ikka, starring Sunny Deol and Akshaye Khanna, debuted on July 10 and quickly gained 4.4 million views in just three days, securing the No. 2 global spot. Meanwhile, Blast, released on June 25, continues to hold strong at No. 8 with 4.4 million views in its first weekend. This contrast shows that box office success does not guarantee OTT dominance.
Peddi may still see a rise in viewership when its Hindi version drops, but the initial data suggests the film failed to capture a broad audience. The streaming era rewards timing, language accessibility, and viewer reach. In this case, Peddi’s slow start highlights how even a Rs. 400 crore blockbuster can struggle in the digital space.
