Kia Sorento: Kia India is preparing to launch the premium Sorento SUV around Diwali 2025, with unofficial bookings already open at select dealerships. It will arrive alongside the Syros EV, which goes on sale July 23. The Kia Sorento will be available in both 6-seat and 7-seat configurations, offering captain chairs in the second row for the six-seater version and a bench seat for the seven-seater.
The new Kia Sorento will offer two powertrain options in India: a diesel and a hybrid. According to a leaked document, the hybrid is likely a version of Kia’s 1.5L petrol engine. Globally, the Kia Sorento is available with a 1.6L turbocharged petrol hybrid (227bhp) and a 2.2L CRDi turbo diesel (202bhp). Transmissions include a 6-speed automatic and an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic. Both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options are expected.
The India-bound Kia Sorento will measure 4,815mm in length, 1,900mm in width, and 1,700mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,815mm. Features are expected to include a panoramic sunroof, dual 12.3-inch displays, powered and ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera, and a Level 2 ADAS suite. The marketing material also highlights “powerful hybrid performance” and “excellent fuel efficiency.”
Expected to be priced between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom), the Kia Sorento will compete with the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron R-Line, Toyota Fortuner, and MG Majestor. Official pricing will be announced closer to launch. The Sorento is shaping up to be a strong contender in India’s growing premium SUV segment.
