Jaguar has revealed the production Type 01, its new four-door electric grand tourer, in New York. The car follows the 2024 Type 00 concept and marks the start of the brand’s electric-only era after roughly six years of development.

Three permanent-magnet motors give the Type 01 around 1,000PS of power, with torque above 1,300Nm. The two rear motors share a single casting and supply about 70 percent of the torque. Jaguar quotes 0 to 62mph in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 150mph.

The battery is about 120kWh, although the final pack size is still being homologated. An 850-volt system supports charging at up to 350kW DC, which Jaguar says adds about 200 miles in 13 minutes. The brand targets 435 miles of WLTP range.

The car is 5.2 metres long and has a 3.2-metre wheelbase, but the long gap between the axles means seating is 2+2 despite the four-door layout. Pricing is likely to start from around 120,000 pounds, which places it between Porsche and Bentley. First deliveries are expected in summer 2027, with global arrival in the first half of that year.

An Indian launch is expected in 2027, though Jaguar has not announced pricing or a date for India. The Type 01 will be an important test of whether the brand can win buyers at the very top of the luxury EV market.
