Vadala Review: A Tedious Thriller is a psychological thriller starring Jagapathi Babu, Laya, and Hrithika Srinivas, released on July 17, 2026. The film, directed by Akella V Krishna, follows Siddharth, a doctor living happily in Madhya Pradesh with his family. His life takes an unexpected turn after meeting Aamudha, a psychologically disturbed woman played by Hrithika. The story explores how this encounter disrupts his peaceful existence, but the narrative fails to deliver a compelling experience, earning a rating of 2.25/5 from 123telugu.com.
Hrithika Srinivas delivers a strong performance, balancing glamour and emotional depth as a troubled woman. Jagapathi Babu plays a believable family-oriented doctor, while Laya shines as his protective wife. The supporting cast, including Ravi Varma, meets expectations. However, the filmmakers struggle to convincingly portray the love and lust elements between Jagapathi Babu and Hrithika, making their scenes unappealing. The initial excitement, reminiscent of Vijay Sethupathi’s Maharaja, quickly fades into a routine and predictable plot, leaving viewers disappointed.
The screenplay suffers from several flaws, including an overdone romantic track between Jagapathi Babu and Laya. The illogical conclusion, where the family forgives Hrithika’s character despite her torture, undermines the narrative. Technically, the film has decent production values, with good songs by Karthik B. Kodakandla and neat cinematography by Chota K. Naidu. However, Akella V Krishna’s direction fails to capture the emotional core effectively. A song featuring Jagapathi Babu and Hrithika seems unnecessary during key moments.
Overall, Vadala is a boring thriller with potential that remains unrealized. While the performances from the lead cast are commendable, the poor execution makes it a disappointing watch. Despite its promising premise, the unexciting narration and lack of emotional impact lead to a verdict that suggests skipping this one. The film earns a 2.25/5 rating from 123telugu.com.
