Nagabandham: Virat Karna Reveals Secrets: The upcoming pan-Indian film Nagabandham, a mythological fantasy adventure thriller starring Virat Karna in the lead role and directed by Abhishek Nama, is set to release on July 3, 2026. In a recent interaction, Karna shared how he landed the project and what audiences can expect from the film. After the release of Pedha Kapu 1, Karna approached director Abhishek Nama, believing he was the right fit for the character of Rudra. Nama liked Karna’s performance, and he came on board. Audiences can expect Nagabandham to deliver thrilling moments set against ancient Vishnu temples, mysterious divine rituals, and forgotten legends. Karna emphasized that everyone gave their best, and producers did not compromise on scale.
To prepare for his dual role as Rudra and Nagasadhu, Karna underwent intense physical training, gained 20 kg, learned horse riding, and even woke up early to perform pooja and listen to Shiva mantras. Playing the Nagasadhu was physically challenging, especially during a night schedule in December where he performed half-naked in cold, windy conditions. Applying the Nagasadhu makeup took six hours daily. For his mythological references in Nagabandham, Karna looked to Chiranjeevi garu and Sr. NTR garu as inspirations, while Bhagyashri guided him on accent and character development. He praised director Abhishek Nama for his clear vision and confidence, especially during demanding sequences.
Karna acknowledged that making a film with a budget of over Rs. 100 crore with a newcomer in the lead is a huge responsibility, but he is confident in the film’s positive response. Reflecting on the disappointment of Pedha Kapu 1, Karna learned that an actor’s duty is to give his best, as the final result is never in control. Looking ahead, Karna has two projects in the pipeline, including a superhero film, which he will announce after Nagabandham’s release. With its grand scale and mythological depth, Nagabandham promises to be a thrilling cinematic experience for audiences across India.
