Nita Ambani, Isha Ambani and family’s trip to Venice for the Biennale: Orry calls it ‘Europe ka Dharavi’. In May, the Ambani family traveled to Venice for the Venice Biennale, marking the historic return of the India Pavilion. On June 28, Orhan Awatramani, known as Orry, posted a video documenting his time there, controversially calling Venice “the Dharavi of Europe.” He shared clips of posing with Nita Ambani and Isha Ambani during a gala hosted by the family. The video gave an inside look at the India Pavilion, organized in partnership with the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC).
Orry arrived in Venice in a fancy boat with Nita and Isha Ambani. He revealed that Isha had invited him to the India Pavilion’s inauguration, calling it a major art event showcasing countries’ creative spirit. This year, the India Pavilion partnered with NMACC, and Isha Ambani hosted it. In one clip, Isha praised her mother, saying, “The person whose passion and love for the arts made this possible for us is my mother, Nita Ambani.” Orry also attended a black-tie gala hosted by Nita Ambani in Venice, where guests arrived by water taxi.
The gala featured a lavish dinner table so long that Orry joked he might reach his 40th birthday before it ended. Nita Ambani promoted Indian cuisine by serving a Gujarati thali to Western friends. Celebrities like Arjun Kapoor also attended. Despite the glamour, Orry’s “Dharavi” comment stirred debate online. Venice remains a dream destination known for St Mark’s Bell Tower, Punta della Dogana, Rialto Bridge, and the Grand Canal.
