Chandrababu: Keeping promises at loan mela. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reaffirmed his commitment to pre-election promises while participating in a Debt Mela program alongside Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Palnadu district. Addressing the crowd in Narasa Raopet, Naidu said his government is ruling according to his promise, contrasting the current administration with the previous YCP regime. He alleged the previous government’s tenure destroyed the state, allowing private lenders to charge exorbitant interest rates between 10 to 20 rupees, which he described as “sucking the blood of the people.”
During this loan mela, beneficiaries received loans at low interest rates directly from banks. Nirmala Sitharaman and CM Chandrababu personally provided documents to the recipients. The Chief Minister highlighted that women from Dwakra communities are now receiving loans at just 25 paise interest, with the government bearing the interest cost. He stated this facility is also available for those establishing small, micro, and medium scale industries, demonstrating how the alliance government negotiated with banks to provide affordable credit.
Chandrababu emphasized the government’s focus on women empowerment, urging Dwakra Sanghas and self-help groups to develop financial plans. He praised Nirmala Sitharaman as an example of determination in stabilizing the economy, suggesting women follow her model. The loan mela served as a platform to showcase how the administration is keeping promises given to the people before elections.
In conclusion, the Andhra Pradesh CM’s participation in the loan mela underscores his administration’s commitment to fulfilling electoral pledges. By providing accessible credit and highlighting women empowerment, Chandrababu positions his government as a contrast to the previous regime, aiming to rebuild the state’s economy through grassroots financial inclusion.
