In Bhimavaram of West Godavari district, YSR Congress Party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday expressed his grief over the miserable condition of aqua farmers. He said that lakhs of people are directly and indirectly employed in the aqua sector, but at present the sector is facing a serious crisis. Jagan expressed deep concern that the farmers are drowning in losses as they are not getting even the minimum remunerative price for the crops grown.
Aqua Farmers Face Tough Crisis
Speaking on this occasion, Jagan severely criticized the negligence of the alliance government towards the aqua sector. He alleged that during the previous YCP government, they had provided all kinds of support to the aqua farmers, but now the government has left the farmers on the road due to their negligence. Jagan opined that despite the increase in yield, there is no demand in the market and the condition of farmers is miserable.
During the interaction program with Aqua farmers, many farmers brought their problems to Jagan’s attention. Farmers lamented that they are facing severe losses due to non-receipt of reasonable prices and electricity subsidies. They expressed their grief that even the authorities are not helping to stop the exploitation of brokers.
Finally, Jagan made it clear that YCP will always be a farmer-biased party. He announced that he would intensify the struggle within and outside the assembly on the issues of aqua farmers. Party chief leaders, former ministers, a large number of local people and farmers participated in this program.
