Tata Avinya: first spy shots reveal crucial details about the upcoming premium electric SUV. Spotted testing in India under heavy camouflage, the test mule gives away key design elements. Up front, the Tata Avinya features a sealed grille, slim daytime running lights (DRLs), and vertical lighting on the bumper. Large aero-optimized wheels, flush-fitting door handles, thick body cladding, a sloping roofline, a roof spoiler, and wraparound taillamps complete the exterior. It rides on a long wheelbase with short front overhang and long rear doors. The production model is expected to be around 4,300mm long, similar to the concept.
The Tata Avinya will be based on the Freelander architecture from the Chery-JLR joint venture. This platform supports an electrical architecture of up to 8000V and 350kW DC fast charging. Battery packs between 65kWh and 80kWh are likely, though Tata Motors has not confirmed powertrain details. The first model under the Avinya sub-brand will be called the Tata Avinya X.
Inside, patent images show a new steering wheel with touch controls and ‘AVINYA’ badging. The dashboard has a clean design with an integrated screen above a soundbar. The Tata Avinya X will have a five-seat layout with bucket seats in front and bench seats in the rear. Features include a large floating touchscreen, digital driver display, panoramic sunroof, wireless charger, 360-degree camera, and V2L/V2V charging. An optional four-seat lounge layout may also be available.
