JSW MG EV: New 7-Seater Electric SUV with 600km Range is preparing for its India launch in August 2027. This upcoming three-row electric SUV will be the first model built on JSW MG Motor India’s new ADAPT platform, which supports multiple powertrain types including electric and hybrid. Based on the Wuling Eksion/Starlight 560, it will compete directly with the Mahindra XEV 9S in the Indian market.
The electric powertrain of the JSW MG EV features a 69kWh battery pack paired with a single electric motor producing 210bhp. This setup is expected to deliver around 600km on a full charge. In comparison, the Mahindra XEV 9S offers three battery options: 59kWh, 70kWh, and 79kWh, with claimed ranges of 521km, 600km, and 679km respectively.
Dimensionally, the JSW MG EV measures 4,745mm in length, 1,850mm in width, and 1,755mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,810mm. It will be slightly shorter and narrower than the XEV 9S. The cabin likely follows a 2+3+2 seating configuration, offering two individual seats in the first row, a three-person bench in the second, and two individual seats in the third row.
A plug-in hybrid version of the JSW MG EV might debut around Diwali 2026. Globally, this variant uses a 1.5L petrol engine mated to an electric motor, producing 197bhp and 230Nm, with a 20.5kWh battery. It offers an electric-only range of 125km and a combined range of up to 1,100km.
The expected price for the JSW MG EV is between Rs 20 lakh for the base variant and Rs 25 lakh for the top-spec version, undercutting the Mahindra XEV 9S which ranges from Rs 19.95 lakh to Rs 29.45 lakh. This new SUV promises a compelling mix of range, space, and affordability in the electric vehicle market.
