Maruti Suzuki: 5 upcoming hybrid SUVs with 35kmpl mileage

Maruti Suzuki: 5 upcoming hybrid SUVs with 35kmpl mileage. The Indo-Japanese automaker is set to expand its product portfolio with nine new models over the next three years, focusing heavily on SUVs, EVs, and hybrids. A major development is the introduction of Maruti Suzuki’s in-house developed strong hybrid powertrain in the Fronx facelift next year. Codenamed HEV, this series strong hybrid system is reportedly more cost-effective and efficient than Toyota’s Atkinson technology. Maruti Suzuki may hybridize its 1.2L K-Series petrol engine for mass-market hybrid models, expected to deliver fuel efficiency exceeding 35kmpl. Official details are yet to be revealed, but five new hybrid SUV options are planned across segments.

The Maruti Grand Vitara facelift is expected in the second half of 2026, with subtle design changes inspired by the Victorios and feature upgrades, but engine options likely remain unchanged. A confirmed 7-seater Grand Vitara will offer a longer, more spacious three-row layout, sharing the same 1.5L Atkinson cycle strong hybrid and mild hybrid powertrains as the current model. The Maruti Fronx Hybrid, currently under testing, will receive minimal styling updates but will feature the new in-house strong hybrid technology.

Maruti Suzuki Y43, a new micro SUV codenamed, will replace the discontinued Ignis hatchback. It is speculated to offer petrol, CNG, and hybrid powertrain options. The new-gen Maruti Brezza, following its facelift on July 23, 2026, is expected in 2029, receiving Maruti Suzuki’s new series hybrid powertrain as a generational upgrade.

These upcoming models from Maruti Suzuki highlight a strong focus on high-mileage hybrid SUVs, promising fuel efficiency of over 35kmpl across different price points. With the Grand Vitara facelift, 7-seater variant, Fronx hybrid, Y43 micro SUV, and new-gen Brezza, buyers will have diverse options in the coming years. Expect further official announcements soon, but the direction is clear: Maruti Suzuki is betting big on hybrid technology for its mass-market SUVs.
