Toyota Hilux: 2026 India Launch Confirmed On July 28, with the company set to introduce the ninth-generation pickup truck in the Indian market. The launch follows the model’s global debut approximately eight months prior.
The new Hilux is expected to feature revised styling, including a body-coloured honeycomb grille, slimmer LED headlamps, and a redesigned bumper with a skid plate. At the rear, updated LED tail-lamps and ‘Toyota’ lettering on some variants replace the traditional badge. The cabin gets a redesigned dashboard with dual 12.3-inch displays, a new steering wheel, and physical controls for key functions. Features may include a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, and ADAS.
Under the hood, the India-spec Toyota Hilux is likely to retain the 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel engine producing 204 HP and 500 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox. Four-wheel drive remains an option. A 48V mild-hybrid system, already available on the Fortuner Neo Drive, could be introduced but is yet unconfirmed. An all-electric Hilux with a 59.2 kWh battery pack exists globally, though its India launch is not confirmed.
The updated Toyota Hilux is expected to be priced higher than the outgoing model, which currently ranges from Rs. 28.52 lakh to Rs. 36 lakh (ex-showroom). This launch marks a significant addition to Toyota’s India lineup, promising a blend of rugged capability and modern enhancements.
