Kollywood legend Kamal Haasan is currently busy promoting his highly anticipated film Thug Life, directed by the master storyteller Mani Ratnam. The film has been creating quite a buzz across social media and film circles, thanks to its impactful promotional campaign and the return of the Kamal–Mani Ratnam combo after decades.

During a recent promotional event, Kamal was asked about the possibility of a collaboration with Malayalam cinema giants Mohanlal and Mammootty. Responding to this, Kamal said, “I’ve worked with Mohanlal before, but it wasn’t in a full-fledged film.” He emphasized that any collaboration with actors of such caliber must be meaningful and story-driven.

“They are great actors, and you can’t waste them,” Kamal stated. “Bringing stars together just for the sake of hype doesn’t work unless the story demands it. It must be rooted in strong storytelling and purpose.” His words resonated with fans and filmmakers who admire thoughtful, performance-driven cinema.

Thug Life is all set for a grand release on June 5, 2025, in multiple languages. The film features a stellar ensemble cast including Trisha, Silambarasan (Simbu), Nassar, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, and more. With AR Rahman scoring the music, expectations are sky-high. Kamal’s comments reflect his commitment to quality cinema, where talent and story take center stage, not just stardom.
