Vijayasai Reddy: Capital controversy politics heated up on Wednesday as the former YSR Congress MP launched a sharp attack on both Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He accused both leaders of turning the Amaravati capital issue into a political football while ignoring the real problems. Vijayasai Reddy questioned why the recommendations of the Sivaramakrishnan Committee, which were meant to decide the capital after the state’s bifurcation, have been set aside by both TDP and YSRCP. He labeled it unfortunate that even after 12 years of state formation, the capital remains undecided.
The Vijayasai Reddy: Capital controversy politics includes deep concerns over the Amaravati land pooling scheme. Reddy highlighted that farmers who gave their land in the first phase have not yet received developed plots or allotments. He also questioned why government institutions have not been established in the VGTM region, despite it being legally recognized. Reddy pointed out that 50,000 crore spent on capital construction has shown no visible results, calling excessive expenditure and corruption a serious concern.
In a strong move, Vijayasa Reddy announced he will approach the court over the Amaravati project costs. He stressed that there must be a legal challenge against increased expenditure and demanded accountability for how funds were used. He argued that the Amaravati debate should be resolved through transparency rather than politics, warning that if the issue drags on until the 2029 elections, it will be a collective failure of all parties.
The ongoing capital dispute remains a big challenge for Andhra Pradesh’s future. Reddy’s critique highlights the urgency of resolving the issue with clear planning and honest governance, rather than allowing it to become a tool for political gain.
