In a recent podcast episode of Figuring Out, hosted by entrepreneur Raj Shamani, actor Shahid Kapoor opened up about his journey in the film industry and his perspective on parenting. He shared his thoughts on ideal parenting, emphasizing that it’s not about knowing everything but about offering a balance. “Ideal parenting, in my view, is not about knowing everything. Every child and situation is unique. It’s about balance between parents, allowing children to make mistakes safely, teaching them values, and ensuring they understand that their achievements come from their own actions, not what they were given,” he said.

Shahid also discussed the importance of his presence in his child’s life, revealing that his son feels more secure when he’s around. “It feels like parents are two feet providing balance, and without one, there’s a loss of stability,” Shahid said. “My son feels more secure when I am around, and when I’m not, there’s a sense of insecurity, especially in him.”

The actor also opened up about the qualities he doesn’t want his children to inherit from him. Shahid expressed his desire for his kids to have more inherent confidence, something he felt he lacked. He also shared that he would prefer his children not to pursue acting, advising them to choose a different path. “Don’t get into acting. Do something else. There are many ups and downs, it’s very rough,” he said. However, he added that if they still choose to act, it would be their decision.
