Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday described the Telugu Desam Party as a political university that brought many leaders closer to the people. Speaking after launching the TDS mass membership program at the party’s central office in Mangalagiri on Saturday, he said that after the emergence of the Telugu Desam Party, the Telugu race has been recognized worldwide.
The CM pointed out that all the senior leaders in the two Telugu states have their roots in the TDP. He assured that all the false cases registered against the party workers would be dealt with legally. “Please don’t turn around to meet me. Instead, reach out to the grassroots. Help them. Only those who work hard in this direction will get proper recognition,” Chandrababu said.
As part of the programme, Chandrababu Naidu rejoined the party. He received his membership card from the party’s state branch president Palla Srinivasa Rao.
He visited the family members of TDP workers who died in various attacks by YSRCP leaders. He said that it was the Telugu Desam Party that introduced the insurance policy for the party members in the country. “With a membership fee of Rs 100, a member becomes eligible for an insurance claim of Rs 5 lakh,” he explained. He said that TDP has always encouraged the downtrodden sections of the society. Educated youth have been given the opportunity to become members of the Assembly and Parliament. He said that ours is the only party which conducts special classes for activists and we are constantly working to train the activists as leaders.
The Chief Minister said that Telugu Desam Party is a completely different party compared to others. He reminded that the party played the main opposition role in the Parliament. Chandrababu Naidu mentioned many leaders who said that it has successfully overcome various challenges and difficulties in the last four decades and that the era of TDP is over. “The reality is that the people who passed these comments are out of time. We have shown our strength in the recent elections in the state. This is the joint victory of TDP, Janasena and BJP who fought the election together,” he said. He said that free cooking gas will be provided from Diwali as per the CM’s promise.
