Tamilisai Soundararajan: The BJP has launched the Signature Movement in support of the three language policy in Tamil Nadu, which is supported by the National Education Policy (NEP). However, the DMK government has strongly opposed to an attempt to forcibly introduce it to the Hindi language.
Tamilisai Soundararajan arrested
As part of the movement, former Telangana Governor and BJP leader Tamilisi Soundararajan and BJP activists have taken up signatures at the MGR Nagar market in Chennai. However, the police blocked her because she was conducted without the permission of the police. The altercation between the Tamils and the police, eventually her arrest, has led to a fierce debate in Tamil Nadu politics.
Tamil Nadu BJP president Annamalai reacted sharply to the incident. The DMK government has accused the government of democratic rights and said that the three -language policy would benefit all the poor and the richest students. Annamalai alleged that the Tamil people had been arrested for the Stalin government for fear of the Tamil people.
Annamalai made it clear that the BJP would not back down with the arrest. The BJP is committed to providing quality education and linguistic opportunities to all Tamil Nadu students. Political controversy over education and linguistic policy in Tamil Nadu is going to intensify.
