Although Saif Ali Khan owns the historic Pataudi Palace in Haryana, contrary to popular belief, he did not inherit it. After the death of his father Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, this political place was converted into a hotel and rented out to Neemrana Hotels. In a recent interview, Saif revealed that he had to pay a huge amount to get back the palace, which is part of his hereditary property.
After his father’s death, the palace passed into the hands of Neemrana Hotels. Hotel owners Aman Nath and Francis Wakziorg suggested to Saif that to get the premises back, he would have to buy it. In this process, Saif spent around Rs. 800 crores had to be spent. Referring to the experience, Saif said that despite his royal family heritage, he struggled to get back the hotel-turned-palace as he was not rich in terms of wealth.
Pataudi Palace is spread over an area of 10 acres. It has 150 rooms, many bedrooms, dressing rooms, billiard halls. The Rajamahal continued as a hotel till 2014. However, Saif regained it that year. Despite the recent burglary attempt at his house, Saif Ali Khan has fully recovered and is safe with his family.
