Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) has always been vocal about his admiration for the legendary actress Sridevi. However, his feelings don’t extend to her daughter, Janhvi Kapoor, with the director making it clear that he has no plans to collaborate with her in the future.
In a recent interview on his channel, RGV candidly expressed his thoughts on both Sridevi and Janhvi. Discussing his admiration for Sridevi, he said, “Be it Padaharella Vayasu or Vasanta Kokila, she delivered a range of performances that left me in awe. Watching her act, I forgot I was a filmmaker and started seeing her as an audience.” However, when it came to Janhvi, RGV stated, “I don’t see Sridevi in Janhvi yet. I liked the mother, not the daughter.” He clarified that his remarks weren’t intended to offend but reflected his lack of connection with Janhvi’s work.
Jr. NTR’s Take on Janhvi
Interestingly, during a photoshoot for the film Devara, Janhvi’s co-star Jr. NTR commented on how she resembled her iconic mother in certain moments. Despite this, RGV dismissed such comparisons, attributing them to what he called a “Sridevi hangover.” He emphasized the unparalleled talent and legacy of Sridevi, which, in his opinion, hasn’t been mirrored by Janhvi.
Upcoming Projects
On the professional front, RGV is set to make a comeback with a new project starring Manoj Bajpayee, revisiting their collaboration from the iconic gangster drama Satya. In fact, Satya is slated for a theatrical re-release on January 17, rekindling nostalgia for fans of the cult classic. Meanwhile, Janhvi Kapoor is gearing up for her upcoming films, Sunny Sanskari ki Tulsi Kumari and Param Sundari.
