Review: ‘Zebra’ – a money crime thriller that pleases in some places!

Satyadev’s latest movie is ‘Zebra’. This movie is directed by Ishwar Karthik as a money crime thriller. Kannada actor Dali Dhananjaya also acted in another lead role in this movie. This movie was released today. And let’s go to the review and find out how much the audience liked this movie!

Story:

Surya (Satyadev) is a bank employee. He is in love with another bank employee Swati (Priya Bhavani Shankar). Even though he has been in love since five years, Surya does not have the courage to tell him at home. Amid some dramatic developments in this sequence, Swati gets stuck in a problem. Surya gets into the biggest problem due to a task done to save her. There is a situation where five crores have to be given to Adi (Dolly Dhananjaya) in four days. How did Surya, an ordinary bank employee, bring such a huge amount?, What did Surya do for those five crores?, What happened in his life in between?, What is the final story of this whole story? That’s the rest of the story.

Plus Points:

The main point of this movie is good. The way Surya (Satyadev) character is established from the opening is good. Especially Satyadev, money related scenes revolving around his character and some comedy scenes are a plus for the movie. A track that earns five crores in four days, there is an unexpected drama between the characters.. And the scenes written by the director linking the roles of Satyadev and Dolly Dhananjaya are good.

Overall, in this ‘Zebra’ movie, along with good drama, fun has been worked out well at some places. The performance of the actors is also good. Satyadev who played the lead role was convincing in his role. Satyadev has mastered the role of ‘Surya’ very well with his timing even in serious situations. Dolly Dhananjaya, who appeared in another key role, also impressed. As the heroine, Priya Bhavani Shankar has done justice to her role. Sathyaraj as Baba impressed.

Comedian Satya’s dialogues and his gestures are very funny. Along with Amrita Iyengar, the rest of the actors who played other key roles also did justice to their roles.

Minus Points:

Though Ishwar Karthik’s take on the plot, and Satyadev – Dolly Dhanunjaya’s roles are good, the story moves slowly at some places. Moreover the key scenes are not logically connected. Especially the hero’s role as well as the villain’s and heroine’s roles should be written more strongly. Also, what if the money owed to someone falls into someone else’s account..? Even the drama that runs from this point of view needs to be written effectively.

In fact, if a common employee has to earn five crores in just four days… how will his mentality be?, how will his behavior change? It would have been better if such things had been shown more effectively. Overall, even though director Ishwar Karthik elevated the content of the script well on the screen, he could not make some routine scenes in the movie entertaining.

Technical Department:

Talking about technicians.. Although Ishwar Karthik is impressive as a director, he is not fully impressed in terms of screenplay. Music director Ravi Basrur’s songs are okay. Similarly, the background score also does not matter in some key scenes. If the editor had trimmed the unnecessary scenes tightly, it would have been a plus for the movie. Cinematography by Satya Ponmar is good. Producers Bala Sundaram, SN Reddy, Dinesh Sundaram have good production values.

Verdict:

In this money crime thriller called ‘Zebra’… the main theme, the drama between the main characters and some fun elements are very good. Also, the performance of Satyadev and the rest of the cast and some thrilling elements are impressive. However, the screenplay is not interesting at some places and some boring scenes in the second half are the minuses of the movie. Overall, the crime and suspense drama revolving around money in this movie is impressive.
