Telangana High Court Directs Restrictions on Children's Entry to Theaters

The Telangana High Court has issued new guidelines regarding children’s entry into multiplexes and theaters, emphasizing the need for regulated timings. After consultations with child psychologists and other concerned experts, the court recommended that the state government restrict children’s access to movie screenings, allowing them only after 11 AM and before late-night hours.

During a hearing on petitions related to rising movie ticket prices and approvals for special shows, Justice B. Vijayasen Reddy’s bench addressed concerns about children attending late-night screenings. The court highlighted the potential impact of irregular movie timings on children’s health and well-being, stressing the importance of maintaining a balanced routine.

The petitioner’s lawyer argued that exposing children to films at odd hours could have negative consequences on their development. The court carefully reviewed these concerns before issuing its directive, ensuring that children’s best interests were prioritized.

With this ruling, the Telangana High Court aims to establish a structured approach to movie screenings, promoting responsible cinema-watching habits among young audiences. The state government is now expected to take steps to enforce these recommendations in multiplexes and theaters across Telangana.
