The much awaited spy action thriller web series Citadel: Honey Bunny is finally streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Starring Samantha and Varun Dhawan in lead roles, this web series has created a good buzz among fans. Let’s see in this review how much this web series directed by Raj & DK has impressed the audience.

Story:
Set in the year 2000, Honeymandakini alias Honey (Samantha) realizes that dangers lurk around her due to her past. However, his main goal is to protect his daughter Nadia (Kashvi Majmundar). Baba (KK Menon) and gang chase Honey. Meanwhile, Rahi Gambhir alias Bunny (Varun Dhawan) is also looking for Honey. Who is this Honey? Why is Baba’s gang chasing her..? Why is Bunny looking for her..? What is the relationship between them? Will Honey survive the dangers around her? You have to watch the episodes of this web series.

Plus Points:
Samantha, who is well known for her role in ‘The Family Man Season 2’, has now impressed the audience with ‘Citadel’ as well. As a mother to protect her daughter, her gestures as a spy are amazing.

Varun Dhawan also played his role well. Sharing the screen with Samantha, Varun Dhawan has made this web series more interesting and entertaining with good scenes.

Kashvi Majmundar, who played Samantha’s daughter in this series, surprised the audience with her amazing performance. Her scenes with Samantha will impress the audience. Kay Kay Menon, Sakhid Saleem, Soham Majmundar and others impress with their roles. It must be said that the single shot climax action sequence is the highlight of this web series. It is also very impressive in terms of visuals.

Minus Points:
Although there are many actors, the minus of ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ is that there is no interesting story. The story written by Raj & DK and Sita R Menon failed to impress the audience as expected. Lack of engaging twists and weak dialogues are the minuses of this web series.

We seem to be missing the story that fans expect from Raj & DK. The narration of this movie is also not interesting and the story often shifts to 1992 and 2000 which has also damaged the flow of this series.

Being a spy thriller and a sequel to popular series like ‘Citadel’, ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ fails to create suspense and tension. Kay Kay Menon’s character design does not impress at all. Simran’s character is also somewhat bland and ends up being wasted.

Even the action sequences fail to thrill. Compared to the international ‘Citadel’ series, the Indian version looks good, but it lacks elements that thrill the audience.

Technical Department:
Raj & DK, Sita R Menon failed to add action and thrilling elements in ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ series. Cinematographer Johan Hurlin’s work is good. The production values are impressive in creating the 90s atmosphere. However, the music is not impressive. The editing work could have been better.

Verdict:
Overall ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ failed to live up to expectations. Although Samantha and Varun Dhawan impressed with their performances, the lack of thrills, action and depth in the story damaged the series. While some scenes are impressive, the lack of gripping elements leaves fans disappointed. While Samantha fans will love this series, those who love thrillers may not like it.
