A rare but troubling error has come to light in Telangana’s ration card issuance process, highlighting flaws in the system. Madishetti Laxman, a resident of Karimnagar district, applied for a new ration card expecting smooth access to essential commodities. However, he was shocked to discover that the card assigned him a ration shop located in Mahabubnagar—over 200 kilometers away from his actual residence.
Despite submitting correct details as per his Aadhaar card, the official records linked him to shop number 1425022 in Mahabubnagar. Confused and distressed, Laxman approached the concerned authorities to correct the mistake. Instead of resolving the issue quickly, officials informed him that his current ration card from Mahabubnagar would need to be canceled before a new one could be issued for Karimnagar.
This bureaucratic hurdle has left Laxman frustrated, questioning the fairness of the process. He said, “Is this justice? Why should a citizen suffer due to clerical mistakes?” His case has caught public attention and has sparked discussions on the need for a more efficient and error-free system.
Many citizens are now urging the Telangana government to review and streamline the ration card allocation system. Technical errors like these not only delay the delivery of essential services but also erode trust in public welfare mechanisms. Immediate corrective measures and better monitoring are being demanded to avoid such mishaps in the future.
