The threats, reportedly sent via emails from Pakistan, have raised concerns about the safety of Bollywood celebrities. The email warned of dire consequences if the recipients did not respond. Kapil Sharma, along with others, was threatened by a mysterious individual named ‘Bishnu’, who claimed to not be involved in publicity stunts but emphasized the seriousness of the message.
The Amboli Police in Mumbai have registered an FIR under Section 351 (3) of the Indian Penal Code and have initiated an investigation into the threat. Police believe the threats are genuine and are treating the matter with the utmost seriousness, especially given the increasing trend of threats towards celebrities in the entertainment industry.
Rajpal Yadav’s Response
Rajpal Yadav, who received a similar email on December 14, 2024, reported the incident to the police after the email ended up in his spam folder. After realizing the threat, he filed a complaint on December 17. Similarly, Remo D’Souza and Sugandha Mishra also received threats. The police have been investigating the case, and Rajpal Yadav expressed his confidence in the authorities handling the matter.
Increasing Threats to Celebrities
This threat comes amidst a worrying trend where Bollywood celebrities are facing increasing dangers. Earlier in 2024, the renowned gangster Lawrence Bishnoi gang was involved in the assassination of politician Baba Siddiqui, and actor Salman Khan has ramped up his security due to threats from the same gang. Recently, actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed in Bandra, and had to undergo surgery before recovering.
