In a significant development that has become the center of attention in the film industry, Income Tax (IT) raids have been underway for the past four days at the residence and office of renowned producer Dil Raju, who is associated with high-profile projects like Game Changer and Sankranti. The IT officials have been scrutinizing various documents, including those at Dil Raju’s daughter’s residence, Hansita Reddy’s home. The raids are part of an ongoing investigation into the authenticity of film collections, particularly in relation to inflated earnings reported by makers on social media.
The controversy surrounding “fake collections” has intensified in the industry, with some filmmakers claiming to have earned hundreds of crores, though there remains uncertainty about the veracity of these figures. IT officials have questioned several Tollywood celebrities regarding the actual collections and whether proper calculations and disclosures have been made. During the raids, key documents have been seized from Dil Raju’s residence as IT officers continue to complete legal formalities, aiming to uncover any discrepancies in the reported earnings.
One of the most notable subjects of investigation is the Pushpa-2 film, which its makers claimed to have earned over Rs 1,800 crore. However, IT officials have raised concerns about the tax payments associated with these reported earnings, suggesting that taxes may have been evaded. In total, 55 teams were formed across 18 locations to conduct the raids, reflecting the seriousness of the investigation as the authorities work to uncover the truth behind the reported collections and ensure that the proper taxes are paid.
