Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that once a politician offered him support for the Prime Minister’s chair, but he ignored the ambition. “I remember one incident. I will not name anyone. The person said if you are going to be the prime minister, we will support you,” Union Minister Gadkari said at the Journalism Awards in Nagpur on Saturday.
“But, I asked, why should you support me, why should I take your support, becoming prime minister is not my aim in life, I am loyal to my faith, my organization and I will not compromise for that. Any post is not the most important thing for me, because my faith is the most important thing for me,” said a senior BJP leader.
Gadkari commented that communist leader AB Bardhan should be respected even though he was anti-RSS. He said that he is one of the biggest political leaders of Nagpur-Vidarbha region and honest opposition should be respected. He mentioned that he told the same thing to a CPI leader.
Nitin Gadkari in his speech emphasized the importance of ethics in journalism and politics. The BJP leader said that democracy can be successful only when the four pillars — judiciary, executive, legislature and media — follow ethics.
