Superstar Mohanlal starred in the lead role L2: Empuran was released in theaters on March 27, 2025. On the first day of its release, the super hit talk, the box office grossed over Rs 100 crore. The film, which is set to be a ‘Lucifer’ sequel in 2019, was a success in entertaining Mohanlal fans. However, some controversies have struck around it, though the film was a huge success.
With religious right -wing organizations objected to some scenes in the film, the film crew has decided to remove about 24 scenes. Specifically, some scenes related to the role of Union Minister and actor Suresh Gopi have also been fired as part of these changes. Also, Suresh Gopi’s special thanks card was also removed. Due to these changes, the movie run time has been reduced by 2 minutes to 8 seconds.
In the wake of these controversies, filmmakers canceled film promotion events. Responding to this, Mohanlal apologized. However, the film’s producer Anthony Perumbavur told the media that he had made changes to protect peace and goodwill in the society, not under political pressure.
