Oscar Nominations Eligible - Gulte Telugu

The pan-India film Kanguva, featuring Kollywood hero Surya, which he dedicated over two years to, has ended up as a significant commercial failure. Despite expectations from the producer Gyanvel Raja, who had set a target of collecting two thousand crores, the film couldn’t even manage to garner a fraction of that amount. Despite the efforts of Karthi’s cameo, Devisree Prasad’s music, Disha Patani’s glamour, and Surya’s dual role, the film failed to resonate with the audience, leaving fans eager to forget it quickly.

However, a surprising twist has emerged as Kanguva has made it onto the list of eligible films for the Oscar Best Picture nominations. While it may not necessarily deserve the nomination, reaching this point is a noteworthy achievement in itself, especially for a film that was a commercial failure and failed to garner positive audience reception. It’s a testament to the unique qualities that may have contributed to its inclusion.

One potential reason for the nomination could be the film’s portrayal of the forest world, the representation of various tribes, and the impressive visual effects. These elements, along with the storytelling, could have played a role in its Oscar recognition. While it’s true that many Hollywood films, which might not resonate with the audience or critics, have still managed to win Oscars, Kanguva‘s achievement can be seen in that context.

Surya, who has recovered from the setbacks of Kanguva, is currently working on his upcoming project, Retro, which has garnered positive expectations. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj and starring Pooja Hegde, this gangster-love drama is set for a release on April 10, although the date is yet to be finalized. Surya is also working on a fantasy film under the direction of RJ Balaji and is slated to appear in Vetrimaran’s Vadivasal soon. Alongside Kanguva, other Indian films eligible for Oscar nominations include Goat Life by Prithviraj Sukumaran and Girls Will Be Girls by Suchi Talati.
