In the wake of a tragic stampede at the Sandhya Theatre, following a special benefit show for Allu Arjun’s Pushpa-2, Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor has spoken out, addressing the incident and clarifying that Allu Arjun should not be blamed for the unfortunate event.
Details of the Incident
The stampede occurred when a large crowd gathered outside the theater for the screening, resulting in the death of a woman named Revathi. Tragically, her son, Mr. Tej, is among the victims currently hospitalized. Following the incident, Allu Arjun was briefly arrested, taken to court, and remanded for 14 days. He was later granted interim bail by the High Court. The incident also led to a complaint being filed with the National Human Rights Commission by Yugandhar Goud, further fueling the controversy.
Boney Kapoor’s Statement
Speaking at a recent event, Boney Kapoor, a renowned Bollywood producer, shared his perspective on the incident. He emphasized that the tragedy was a result of the overwhelming number of people gathered, not the actions of Allu Arjun himself. Kapoor explained that audiences in southern India are particularly passionate about their stars, leading to large crowds for movie releases. He cited his own experience attending a midnight screening of a movie starring Ajith, where a crowd of 20,000 people gathered, noting that such large gatherings can sometimes lead to tragic situations.
Kapoor remarked, “The incident took place as more people came. There is no need to blame Allu Arjun in this.” He also acknowledged that actors like Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan, and Mahesh Babu have huge fan followings, and such incidents are a consequence of the intense admiration their fans have for them.
Public Sympathy for Allu Arjun
Boney Kapoor’s statement offers some clarity, urging the public not to unfairly blame Allu Arjun for the stampede. The incident, while tragic, was more about the overwhelming crowd than any fault on the actor’s part. Fans and the public have expressed their condolences for the victims, and many have rallied behind the actor, acknowledging that such large gatherings require more safety measures.
