Andhra Pradesh Poverty: According to the Socio-Economic Survey 2025, Andhra Pradesh ranks 9th in poverty. The state is raising poverty in economic inequalities, shortage of employment opportunities and low income levels, especially rural and tribal areas.

Extreme poverty in tribal areas
The survey said tribal areas were suffering from the highest poverty. Complexes living in forests and hilly areas are facing serious problems due to lack of access to basic amenities such as health, education and employment. The shortage of land reforms and basic infrastructure has worsened their economic conditions.
Kurnool is the highest poverty district
Kurnool district has been identified as the highest poverty area in Andhra Pradesh, followed by Vijayanagaram and Visakhapatnam districts. The economic progress of these areas has caused low literacy, high unemployment and relying on agriculture. However, the West Godavari district is showing better performance in reducing poverty.
Challenges of nutrition and infant mortality
Andhra Pradesh is lagging behind in malnutrition and infant mortality rates. These problems are worsening with nutrition and shortage of child health facilities and lack of parental awareness. The government needs to implement comprehensive schemes with a focus on education, health and economic development.
Socio-Economic Survey 2025 clearly describes poverty, nutrition and health problems in Andhra Pradesh. The government should create effective policies and improve the living conditions of the weaker sections of the state.
